Semarang, November 2023 – International Relations Universitas Diponegoro Laboratory (IRUDLab), a research and development laboratory under the Department of International Relations UNDIP, successfully organized a series of academic activities throughout October–November 2023. With a strong commitment to fostering a collaborative research culture, IRUDLab presented three Research Cluster Discussions that explored critical topics in international relations studies, ranging from terrorism, non-Western normative perspectives, to the Israel–Palestine conflict.
The series began with Research Cluster Discussion #6 on 18 October 2023 at the Diplomacy Laboratory, International Relations UNDIP. The discussion featured Muhammad Subhan, S.IP., M.InternatRel., lecturer in International Relations, UNDIP, focusing on the issue of terrorism. Conducted in an offline format, the event was attended not only by International Relations students but also by visiting students from Al-Fath Cirendeu High School, South Tangerang. Their presence brought a lively atmosphere and broadened the scope of IRUDLab’s academic engagement by introducing international relations studies to younger audiences.

The series continued with Research Cluster Discussion #7 on 25 October 2023, also held at the Diplomacy Laboratory, International Relations UNDIP. The session invited Mohamad Rosyidin, S.Sos., M.A., lecturer in International Relations UNDIP, as the keynote speaker. Under the theme Javanese Culture Perspective in Non-Western Normative International Relations Theory, the discussion was conducted in a hybrid format—offline at the Diplomacy Lab and online via Zoom—encouraging both in-person and virtual participation. His presence created a reflective dialogue and enriched students’ understanding of alternative theoretical perspectives rooted in local values.
Concluding the series, Research Cluster Discussion #8 was held on 3 November 2023, adopting an open table discussion format on the issue of the Israel–Palestine conflict. The session took place at the Diplomacy Laboratory, International Relations UNDIP and was also accessible via Zoom Meeting. With Fatimah Az Zahra Andryani, an International Relations UNDIP student, as the discussion initiator, the forum fostered a dynamic atmosphere where participants exchanged critical perspectives and debated the implications of Middle Eastern dynamics within contemporary international relations discourse.
Through these three activities, IRUDLab reaffirmed its role as a productive, inclusive, and innovative research hub. The series of discussions not only strengthened the academic tradition within the International Relations Department of UNDIP but also encouraged students to contribute to global academic discourse with more critical and diverse perspectives.
